How do you sew up a hole? It’s actually quite simple and not as hard as you might think. This tutorial by Cinderella Sew will teach you how to sew a hole in a seam. There are several reasons why seams get torn, such as wear and tear, over-stressed seams, or stretched fabric. But do not worry, these kinds of holes are easier to fix since they are along the seam line.

What You Need to Sew a Hole
- needle
- thread (use the same color as the fabric)
How to Sew a Hole
Step 1:
Flip the clothing inside out.
Step 2:
If it’s in the seam line, you’ll basically redo the stitches along it.
Thread the needle all the way through until the ends meet.
Step 3:
Start at one side of the hole. Go right in through both layers of fabric, pull your needle almost through, leaving some thread hanging out, then go back through as close to the same hole as you can. Now, you have a loop of thread. Before you pull it shut, insert the needle through the loop and pull it close. Do it over and over, at least 2 or 3 times.
Step 4:
Go up and down coming out on the seam side and just pull your needle through.
Step 5:
Go one step back, then go down and up through both layers of fabric. Pull your needle through. This is called a backstitch. Repeat until you go all along the hole.
Step 6:
Do another knot to close it. You can do the same down and up motion coming out through the same holder you already came out, then pull it and insert it through the loop of thread. Pull it tight. Repeat two to three times in almost the same area where the first hole was.
Step 7:
Cut off your thread.
