Tortillas were something that I would always end up getting aggravated over. I’d heat them up for my family and when I finally sat down at the table they were already cold!
But have you ever cooked up Fajita meat with a side of fresh salsa and corn tortillas, but are disappointed with your cold and dried out tortillas, once it’s time to eat?! Generally, we wrap them up in paper towels and then some tin foil until we’re ready to eat them, but I’ll admit, it’s kinda tricky to keep covered during the meal. I’ve been wanting to buy some sort of tortilla warmer for a long time, but haven’t found one I like. So instead, I found this great tutorial and made one from a few layers of fabric and some insulation. This certainly solved the cold tortilla problem.
I’m a huge Mexican Food love, as a matter of fact, my friends tell me I should have been born in Mexico! My tortillas must be warm! Before putting the meat and other goodies on them, I have to eat a couple with butter smeared on them!
The cool part is that you can microwave it! Just load it up with tortillas, close the flap, microwave for 15 seconds, check it, and then add more time if needed (depending on how many you’re warming up). Once the tortillas are steamy warm, carry the whole thing over to the table and then tortillas can be removed as needed.
You can actually keep bread, baked potatoes and other things warm in these too! When they get dirty, just throw them in the washing machine.
Watch how Monos Tutus Y Mas makes this in her step by step tutorial so you can keep those tortillas warm! This is in Spanish, so if you don’t speak Spanish, just turn the volume off and watch how she makes this.
