Here is an idea for those of you who want a Christmas tree that goes above and beyond the ordinary, this one is a huge Godzilla tree that breathes smoke! This guy in New Zealand had a nephew who loved dinosaurs, so he decided to make a Godzilla tree from just a few ordinary supplies which include a fog machine, chicken wire and of course, Christmas lights. I think if you follow along with these photos he shared to Facebook, you can probably pull off something similar. If not, it is just really cool to see how he did this, call me impressed. Go big this Christmas or go home!
I love decorating for Christmas, but Yule Tide Tradition can make us feel like, been there, done that sometimes. However, there is that rare occasion when you see something so completely out of the ordinary you are dumbfounded with complete amazement, this is one of those times people. I saw this amazing, unbelievable, totally original Treezilla! Yes, you heard that correctly, a Fire Breathing Treezilla no less. Steven Newland a Float Pilot and new Dad in New Zealand made this amazing Treezilla after deciding to build a unique tree for his nephew who loves dinosaurs. He decided to go all out and make Godzilla.
To make the ultra-cool smoke breathing dragon of a tree, he started with some weed mat, artificial Christmas tree branches, chicken wire, plastic teeth and a fog machine that would go inside the head so Godzilla breathes smoke.
Here is how the chicken wire base started out. He adds paper claws for the feet to assure that the shape is right. These appear to be handmade from cardboard.
Then, the chicken wire dragon form is wrapped with the kind of weed mat you can get for landscaping. This made his dinosaur nice and green before he adds the faux Christmas tree branches.
Here is where he adds the fog machine inside the head so it can breathe smoke.
Here is the Godzilla tree before it gets the lights.
And here it is in its final glory with the smoke machine inside the head. Man, would I love to have one of these awesome trees guarding my Christmas presents this year. Perhaps by next year, Steven could sell these or at least provide us with a complete step by step tutorial on the making of his creative Treezilla. We appreciate his creativity and ingenuity, that’s for sure!
