Have an old pair of jeans you no longer use? Don’t throw it just yet! There are plenty of things you can make with denim jeans. You can turn it into a Denim Box, Flower Bouquet, Tote Bag, Fanny Pack, or into this DIY multipurpose organizer. It’s an idea from TaLe Germany on YouTube. It has four spacious pockets. You can place books, craft materials, papers, and different things in this organizer and hang it on your wall.

This project is easy and beginner-friendly. It is a great way to repurpose old clothes instead of throwing them into the trash. You can use any old shirt or excess fabric for the lining. What I love most about this organizer is that it’s easy to clean. You can just throw it in the washer, and it will look good as new. Learn the step-by-step instructions through the video tutorial below.
Cut the leg parts of the jeans. Cut both on the seam line, then sew them together.
Lay the jeans flat with the long side in front of you. Measure 13″ from the center of the short edge, marking the ends, and draw horizontal lines from that side to the other short side. Cut it out to make a rectangular piece.
Cut 4 pieces of 13″ x 8″ denim fabrics for the pockets.
Lay your old shirt flat and place the big rectangular denim fabric you cut earlier and use it as a guide to cut out the lining – it should be 2.5″ longer but still 13″ in width.
Next, cut 4 strips that are 2″ wide. Fold them in half lengthwise and press with an iron. Open and fold the sides toward the center line. Press to flatten. Fold again in half and press. Get one pocket fabric and insert one long side between the folded strip. Sew it on the edge. Repeat with the remaining strips and pocket fabrics.
Place the pockets on top of the rectangle denim fabric just like in the photo below. Pin them in place. Start stitching on the bottom edge and sides of the first pocket from the top. Continue sewing all the way to the bottom.
Fold it in half, and cut a diagonal on the top to make it pointed like an apron.
Place the lining on the back. Cut it just before the diagonal, then cut a small rectangle for the top (make sure to add allowance). Fold ends twice then sew. Pin them in place and cut the lining just like the front.
Stitch all the way around.
Add 2-inch binding all the way around, then make an 8″ long strip for the hanger. Insert a rectangular cardboard at the back to keep it in shape.
