Scrunchies have been and will always be a hit in the hair industry. This is why many generations have creatively made different varieties of it, from silk fabrics to macramé textiles. Scrunchies are even in different colors or all the colors in one! It really depends on the person’s preference. But most of all, no matter how the scrunchie may look, its purpose of tying the hair into different hairstyles is the most essential part of its creation. Making your own scrunchy addresses the problem of finding the perfect size of scrunchy suited for your own hair type.
Here, Makram on YouTube shares with us how to make our own DIY Macrame scrunchies with old nylon stockings. Spice it up a bit by playing with different colors as you want!
Materials:
Directions:
Prepare the materials and lay them close at hand. Precisely cut a round strip of nylon from the stockings. You can choose which part of the stock to cut. Depending on the width of the scrunchy you want, stretch the nylon out to make it more elastic. Be careful not to pull too hard.
For better handling, pin the nylon tie on the center of the wooden board.
Fold the macrame in half and, using the middle part of the macrame as a guide, tie it tightly around the nylon tie. Start by weaving the macrame into the nylon tie using spiral knots. Make sure the knots are in place and close to each other. Stretch out the nylon tie as you weave while adjusting the knots.
When you reach around the first end, tie the macrame tails into the first knot you made. Add more knots if needed. Neatly cut off the excess macrame tails. Stretch out the scrunchie you made and enjoy making a bunch of scrunchies! Use different colors for a wide variety.
