I had really done a lot of shopping this year and realized I didn’t have any gift boxes, so I immediately got on Youtube and found a brilliant video tutorial showing exactly how make a DIY Gift Box with card stock and I had to give it a go. After all, I had bought a huge stack of card stock when Michael’s Craft Store had its 60% off coupon, so I was stocked up. All you need for this project is card stock (one sheet per box), a ruler, a pair of scissors, and some glue. The Youtube instructions are super easy to follow, you start with one simple piece of card stock and draw your crease lines with a pencil, it should first look something like this.
Then you make lines with your ruler that look like this, then you cut the edges as shown in the next photo.
Then you get your glue stick or your trusty glue gun and start folding up your little cut flaps and gluing them down, the box will take shape before your eyes.
The beauty of this simple formula is that you can make a box in any size you want and in any type of color or style you want. I made some out of glitter cardstock metallic card stock, and every other beautiful print and solid I had and the most amazing thing happened… I realized that was my wrapping! I did not need to wrap anything! These gorgeous gift boxes were as glamorous as any wrapping could ever be!
