Materials:

  • 20 mm wood beads
  • blue painters tape
  • white acrylic paint
  • paint brush
  • twine
  • scissors

Directions:

Step 1

Cover the halves of six beads with some blue painter’s tape, then paint the other half white. Let them dry for 30 minutes. Remove the tape once all of them are dry, then make the tassel. Wrap the twine around your hand about 25 to 30 times and cut it off. Cut a smaller piece of twine and use this to knot the center of the wrapped twine. Now, pull the rest of the strings down as flat as you can and cut them with a scissor. Pull it straight and fold it over itself so the knot should now be inside the head of the tassel. Cut another piece of twine and use this to secure the head of the tassel. Make sure the knot is inside the head and pinch it nice and tight. Take the piece of twine and leave about two inches sticking out, just grip it with your thumb, then start twisting the rest of the string around the head tightly. When you reach the end, double-knot it again and trim off the ends.

Step 2

Cut about 2 feet long twine and insert it through the head of the tassel, making a double-knot to secure it. After this, start putting the beads through the twine, beginning with the half-white, then add about 25 to 30 of the naturally colored wood beads. In the end, put the other three half-white beads. To finish the garland, put the twine through the other tassel and double-knot it in place.
