I don’t know about you, but I hate having to scrub things to get them clean…especially the microwave! Cleaning a microwave is just plain annoying. I mean, let’s be honest, it’s way easier to just shut the door and pretend it’s not there.
Cut a lemon in half and squeeze it into a bowl of water (if you don’t have a lemon handy you can use reconstituted lemon juice), place in microwave for 5 minutes. Once it’s done, let it sit in the microwave for about 5 minutes without opening the microwave door. The hot steamy lemon water basically dissolves all the yuck, food and gunk in there.
Then, take a wash cloth or paper towel and wipe clean! No scrubbing required! If you find that you need to scrub, simply repeat the process. Keep in mind, there were over cooked refried beans splattered all over mine and it wiped clean easily after one lemon water treatment! So, the next time you need to microwave fish, onions or anything that may cause a stench or you have drippings that are stuck to the inside of your microwave, just grab a lemon and let the microwave virtually clean itself. This is a great time saver and a good way to eliminate kitchen odors that tend to hang around for a few days.
