This DIY Christmas JOY sign by Creative Mom on YouTube uses coke plastic bottles, foil, paint, hot glue, and paper clay. I think it’s interesting to see how this Christmas decor is an upcycled project and it’s super inexpensive to make. It features Santa, a penguin, and a snowman. It’s a creative way to recycle plastic bottles and not waste them. Also, you can use your imagination with this project, and I would’ve never thought about this idea. It’s a very clear tutorial with clear video instructions. The details on this project are very detailed and the precision of the characters is amazing.
First, cut the bottom of the bottles, and glue the three bottles together using a hot glue gun. Add the tin foil to the base of the plastic bottles, and start building the three characters. Continue to watch Creative Mom tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details.
Next, once the mold of the characters is finished, use the paper clay to make the solid shape. Once everything is dried, paint over with watercolors and acrylic paint.
Overall, this is a cool project that is a true upcycled DIY that uses waste into the decor. Note: do not use hot lights for this craft. I love how the light shines through the letters on the stomach of the characters. It’s honestly one of the coolest and inspiring craft projects to make. I love seeing the process of how this DIY plastic bottle comes all together. Creative Mom is so talented. Plus, this would be a great way to do a DIY craft with the kids during the holidays.
