It’s no secret that I love painting ‘stuff’…. tables, shelves, chairs, you name it! I like to paint all things! I hardly throw anything away now because there is always potential to paint. I must admit that although I fancy myself to be a painting guru, there is a lot of stuff I haven’t tried painting simply because I had no idea they could be painted! For instance, a refrigerator!

When I saw this tutorial I was all in! My fridge wasn’t anything special, but runs like a champ, so I thought this was the bees knees and got busy doing this amazing DIY project! This is SO much FUN! I especially LOVE the calendar being so handy! This was a sure fire way for me to not forget to check my calendar, which was one of the biggest advantages of doing this. I’m notorious for not checking a regular calendar because it’s never in plain site!

I’d rank this project on the easier side of DIY, and I’d say the biggest hurdle is having 5+ hours to spend between dry times, so I’d probably tackle it on a weekend.  The other thing I should mention is the vent at the bottom of the fridge could be left as is, or if you want to paint it I would suggest an appliance spray paint.  I think it would be pretty difficult to paint the vent with the chalkboard paint, so I just got a basic black appliance spray and put a few light coats on it.  Since it’s at the bottom you don’t really notice it, and it doesn’t bother me that it isn’t a 100% match to the fridge color.

Chalkboard refrigerators are so handy for leaving notes for the family, planning weekly menus, grocery lists and more! I wish I’d done this a long time ago! Before we had this, I couldn’t keep up with all of the little post it notes I had laying all around my house!

This is a great place to put up positive quotes and/or affirmations for you and your family members, practice your special lettering, art…you name it! Let your creativity run wild!

Watch how Debi does this in her step by step tutorial and go for it!
