I love to make homemade Christmas decorations so when I saw this fabulous DIY Candy Cane Swirl Acrylic Paint Pour Christmas Ornament idea I knew I had to make it immediately. I have so much leftover acrylic paint from years of projects from years past and I had some clear ornaments from last year, so there was no real cash outlay and nothing to stop me. I first got all my materials together, plastic gloves to prevent me from being covered in acrylic paint, a few bottles of acrylic craft paint in your choice of colors, some paper towels, a large plastic trash bag to use as a drop cloth, and I used clear plastic ornaments (the opalescent kind), I got from Michael’s Craft Store with a 60% off coupon I found on the Michael’s Craft Store App. The idea of this DIY is to pour the paint into the ornament itself and swirl the paint around, so there won’t be a big mess as there is with other pour paint tutorials. When they use the term “dirty pour”, they really mean it, LOL. I started by putting two colors, a simple red and white in plastic cups to use to pour into my ornament. I wanted them to look like the candy cane motif shown in this video, but any color combination would be gorgeous, it’s all personal preference.

Then I just kept adding paint and swirling it around until I got the look I desired.

These ornaments are so fun and easy to make, they turned out beautifully they did not make a big mess, and the children loved to join in. Fun for all the family and they added so much to our Candy Land Themed Christmas Decor.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
