Dishwashers are one of the best appliances ever invented, it’s such a great help, especially for busy people who need an extra hand or one less chore to handle like me. However, I don’t have that much knowledge of the proper way of maintaining dishwashers or which products are best to use. Lucky enough, Andrea Jean Cleaning on YouTube always has the answer I’m looking for.

Materials:

  • Cascade dishwashing detergent
  • Dawn powerwash dish spray
  • Cascade dishwasher packs

Directions:

Dishwasher packs are pricey and kids could mistake them for candy if not stored properly. Your first rinse or cycle should be hot water immediately so you might want your dishwasher turned on ahead of washing so that the tap is already running and hot water will be released immediately. On the other hand, using a Dawn dishwasher is also something you should think twice about because it makes so many bubbles that your machine would be filled and even overflowing with suds.

In this case, dishwasher detergents will do the trick and are so much better than those tiny packs. It is cheaper and does not produce that many bubbles. However, if you do feel comfortable using dishwasher packs more, make sure to set your machine for only an hour or enough for only one cycle. For a bonus tip, make sure to check and clean your filter regularly, all those gunks and buildup can be removed easily by simply spraying it with Dawn dish spray, then scrubbing it with a toothbrush. Lastly, rinse it with some water and vinegar solution, and wipe it dry with a rag.
