This cake is mouth-watering delicious and tastes just like a hostess ding dong. This dessert by Catherine’s Plates will have your guests begging for seconds. The best part of all, the cake is made with a base of a box cake, so you really don’t have to do too much ingredient hunting to get the job done.
Mix up your cake mix, milk and eggs. Allow your eggs to sit out and reach room temperature before adding them to the mixture this will make your cake fluffier. Use a hand mixer to get all the lumps out of the batter.

In a mixing bowl but 2/3 a Crisco shortening, half a stick of soft butter and mix this together. Once it is all combined, add in 3/4 cup of granulated sugar. 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 1/2 a cup of evaporated milk. Mix this all together till you get a creamy consistency.
Put the filling you made in step three on top of the cake from step two. Evenly spread the filling across the cake.

Put your chocolate fudge frosting into it a microwave-safe bowl and get it up until it is spreadable. Pour it onto your cake and spread it.
Let the cake sit at either room temperature for 2 hours, or in the fridge for 5 minutes before cutting into it.
