Make the half-square triangle. Get one background square and one print square. Place them on top of each other with the background on top. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner and sew a quarter of an inch on both sides of the line. Once done, cut directly on the line. Trim into 4 1/2″ squares and press them open toward the dark sides. Repeat with one pack of 5″ print squares and 5″ background squares.
Make four patches. Take one print square and one background square. Place them on top of each other, right sides together. Sew just on the sides. Next, cut it in half and press open. Repeat to a different print square. Get one of the halves of different prints, and place them on top of each other, right sides together. Sew straight on the sides. After that, cut it in half and press open. Repeat with the other pack of 5″ print squares and 5″ background squares.
Get two four-patches and two half-square triangles. Arrange them just like in the photo below. You can chain-piece them to make the work faster. Once you sew them by row, sew the rows together to make the block like a four-patch. Make sure to match the seams. Repeat with the remaining four patches and half-square triangles.
Arrange them in rows with the squares and triangles coming together. You need 7 rows with 6 blocks each.
