This crossing paths quilt by Missouri Star might look tedious, but it’s actually not! There’s an easy way to make this block without cutting each of the squares and assembling them together one by one. I made this pattern several times and enjoyed making all of them. Read on or watch the video below for full instructions.

Get four random 2 1/2″ printed strips and sew them together with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Once done, press it flat.
Cut a 2 1/2″ strip from your background and add it to the top of the unit. Sew it with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Press it open.
Fold the unit, right sides together, then sew the edges together. Make sure to line it up and do not stretch it.
Trim off the end. Cut 2 1/2″ strips from the tube. You need five of these strips for each block. Take one, go to the dark piece, and take out the seam. Loosen up about every five stitches. Get another one, hold onto the black, and count one back to the other color. Take out the seam between those two pieces. For the next one, move 2 from the black and remove the seam between them. Repeat the process with the remaining two, move 3 for the fourth and 4 for the fifth. Iron each of them.
Sew them together into a block with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. You need 5 blocks across and 6 down for a total of 30 blocks. When you combined four blocks into a big block, it will form a diamond. After that, when you arrange the big blocks, a square will form between each diamond.
