If you’ve never had Southern Boiled Peanuts, boy oh boy are you in for a treat! These peanuts make the ultimate savory snack and they are kept warm and delicious in your trusty crockpot for your guests and family to snack on while you are attending to other culinary required activities. I am from Texas so while this recipe hails from the North Carolina, Georgia area, people in Texas don’t really eat this, but only because we may not know about it, but after my very first bite of this lovely taste of the Deep South, I will be eating them from now on. I started this recipe by getting my ingredients into the crockpot, 1 pound raw peanuts, 2 heaping tablespoons of salt, and 1/2 gallon plus 2 cups water.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pound Of Peanuts
  • 2 Heaping Tablespoons Of Salt
  • 1/2 Gallon, plus 2 Cups Water

Directions:

Just add the raw peanuts to the crockpot.

Then I turned the crockpot on high and cooked the peanuts for about 8 hours then when the peanuts are done you can just leave them in the crockpot with some little plates or bowls nearby and let everyone snack on them at will.

These peanuts are the hit of any party or gathering. When I served them yesterday, the peanuts in the post kept going down and down, I couldn’t figure it out, then I caught my husband, that cute little rascal, sneaking through the back door filling up an antique pyrex bowl and sneaking all the way around to the front entrance and getting under his electric blanket to hog his peanuts! What a cutie, that little peanut routine reminded me of why I love that sweetie so much!
