This chicken and dumplings recipe by Christy Nicole on YouTube is a lifesaver because not only does it require only 5 ingredients, but it’s made in a crockpot too. Plus, it uses canned biscuits to make the dumplings, and everything about this recipe is so simple. It’s one of those recipes where you don’t need a lot of effort to make. It’s a budget-friendly meal too. This recipe shows how you can make a southern comfort dish with just a few ingredients, and having similar or exact flavors. Something I would add to this recipe would be frozen mixed vegetables which creates a similar chicken pot pie style. This would be a great dinner meal on a winter or Fall day.

Ingredients:

  • 4 breast half, bone and skin removed (blank)s skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 (10.75 ounces) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces

Directions:

First, start off by finely dicing the onion. Place the chicken, butter, soup, and onions in a slow cooker, and fill with enough water to cover. Place the lid over the crockpot and cook for 5-6 hours on HIGH.

Next, take the canned biscuits and rip each piece and turn them into dough balls. About 30 minutes before serving, add the biscuit dough balls into the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

Overall, I want to try this recipe out because I love chicken and dumplings. It’s a great recipe to make when the days get a little cooler. As much as I would like to make chicken and dumplings from scratch, I know it can be a process. Since there’s an easier recipe that skips all of the other steps, I would opt out for something less complicated.
