Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs of okra
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • vegetable oil

Directions:

Step 1

Heat enough cooking oil for deep frying in a heavy-bottomed pot. While waiting, go ahead and prep the okra. Add 1/4 cup milk in a medium mixing bowl then add one egg. Whisk together until combined. Season with 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Set it aside. Add 1 cup of flour to a brown paper bag along with some creole seasoning (or salt and black pepper). Close the bag and shake it well. Set it aside. Lastly, chop the okra into small bite-size pieces.

Step 2

Once you have chopped all the okra, dredge them into the egg mixture and then the flour mixture. Close the bag and shake to coat the okra. Drop the coated okra into the heated cooking oil and fry until golden brown (about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes.) Once done, remove the okra from the oil and set it aside on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve and enjoy!
