Cut the tip of the onion so it’s easier to remove the dry outer part, then slice into thick half-inch rings. Separate the rings into individual rings. Set them aside. Next, in the first bowl, add 1 cup of milk and 1 tbsp of white vinegar. Mix it and let it sit for five minutes. After 5 minutes, add 1/2 cup of sour cream and whisk them together. Get another bowl and add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 tbsp of salt, 1 tsp of garlic powder, and 1/4 tsp of ground black pepper. Whisk together until well combined. Get the onion rings and dip one first in the milk mixture, lift it out using a fork and transfer it to the flour mixture. (Make sure to coat well the onion ring.) After this, dip the onion ring again into the milk mixture and then back into the flour mixture. Repeat this process to the remaining onion rings.

(If you don’t have a deep fryer, it’s recommended to use a large heavy pot such as a Dutch oven for even heat conduction.) Add enough oil to the pot for deep frying. Add a layer of onion rings when the oil is finally hot. Cook each onion rings for about three minutes, flipping halfway, and fry until the exterior is crisp. After this, transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate.
For the dipping sauce, in a small bowl, add 1/2 cup of mayo, 1/4 cup of sour cream, 3 tbsp of ketchup, 2 tsp of horseradish sauce (or any hot sauce you want), 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 tsp of ground paprika. Whisk together until well combined.
