You only need basic ingredients to make this creamy mushroom sauce; you can find most of them in your pantry or local grocery store. It comes together easily in one pan and a few minutes.
This creamy mushroom sauce pairs well with a lot of dishes. You can serve it with burgers, chicken, steaks, pasta, meatballs, potatoes, gnocchi, vegetables, and much more. Our favorite way to serve it is with pasta and chicken. You can never go wrong with that combination. It is absolutely delicious and filling.
Drizzle oil into a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the chopped onion and butter. Saute until translucent.
Add the sliced mushrooms and saute until browned.
Pour the meat or vegetable broth and sour cream into the pan—season with salt, ground black pepper, and oregano. Mix until well combined. Let the sauce come to a simmer.
The sauce should be thick by now. Add the chopped garlic and parmesan cheese. Mix well to incorporate. Make a taste test and adjust seasonings if needed. Sprinkle parsley on top and the creamy mushroom sauce is ready to be served.
