As much as I hate to say it, I do enjoy Taco Bell. There are some things on the menu that I do like if I’m craving something fast. However, this copy cat Taco Bell 5 layer burrito recipe by Sam The Cooking Guy on YouTube has a homemade version. I think it would be fun to create a burrito or any food item from a fast food place. The quality would be better and it would be cool to see how close I can get with the original version. Every time I watch Sam’s cooking videos, I get so hungry and amazed. There’s a lot of short cuts or “cheater” ways he does to make things simple such as making the queso. I’ve wanting to make queso, but never found an easy and honest recipe.
Ingredients:
For the burrito:
- tortillas
- sour cream
- 1.9 lbs brisket
- garlic powder
- Mexican oregano
- cumin
- chili powder
- salt and pepper to taste
For the queso:
- Kraft’s cheez whiz
- red salsa
- diced jalapenos
For the refried beans:
- diced yellow onions
- oil
- minced garlic
- 2 cans pinto beans, drained
- cumin
- garlic powder
- chili powder
- bean juice from the pinto beans
- salt and pepper to taste
- Cholula or hot sauce (optional)
Directions:
First, make all of your burrito ingredients such as the ground brisket, queso, and refried beans by watching the recipe by Sam The Cooking Guy on YouTube. The 5 layer burrito includes a smaller tortilla inside, so use a bowl to cut out a smaller tortilla.
Next, begin assembling the beefy 5 layer burrito with the refried beans on the bottom, followed up with the queso on top. Then, add the smaller tortilla, ground brisket, sour cream, and shredded cheese down the center.
Overall, this copycat Taco Bell burrito recipe looks delicious. I love how everything was made and I enjoyed watching this tutorial.
