In order to have the perfect Christmas dinner, an appetizer is necessary. The appetizer sets the tone for the rest of the meal because it’s the first thing everyone eats. I was searching for the perfect Christmas appetizer when I stumbled upon A Taste of Delicious on YouTube. This easy-to-make and delicious puff pastry is as iconic as it looks!
Ingredients:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
In a large bowl, place 250g cream cheese, 1 cup frozen spinach, ¼ cup parmesan, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, ½ tsp salt, 2 garlic cloves minced, and 2tbsp sour cream.
Mix well with a spatula.
On a baking tray, lay a sheet of parchment paper, and on top, a pastry sheet.
Use a pizza cutter to cut a Christmas tree shape into the dough. Keep the leftovers in a separate baking tray to make the star.
Spread the cream cheese mixture on the pastry sheet.
Sprinkle on some mozzarella and cheddar cheese, and then top with the second pastry sheet.
Using a pizza cutter, cut 5-2 cm thick “branches” on either side of the tree.
When coming up to the center, be careful to leave a 2-3 cm section.
Gently lift and twist each “branch” twice.
In a bowl, stir together an egg yolk and milk in a bowl.
Brush the mixture all over the tree and the star. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the star.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 30 minutes, or until golden.
