This chocolate cobbler recipe by Catherine’s Plates on YouTube is like a warm, fudgy lava cake that is an easy dessert to make. It has a cake-like texture on top with a pudding texture on the bottom that serves as a chocolate sauce. The chocolate cobbler is chocolate heaven and would satisfy my chocolate and sweets cravings. I haven’t had a chocolate cobbler before, but it’s similar to a lava cake. I can’t wait to try this recipe out because it calls for simple ingredients and instructions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk

Topping:

  • 1/4 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup boiling water

Directions:

First, preheat the oven to 350F. Spray a 1.5 or 2-inch deep baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside. In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa using a whisk or sift ingredients together. Spread the chocolate mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Next, in another medium bowl, combine the topping ingredients of both sugars, salt, and cocoa. Sprinkle dry mix on top of batter in the baking dish. Do not stir the dry mix into the batter. Leave as is. Bake for about 30-35 minutes until the top of the cake is firm. Continue to watch Catherine’s Plates tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details.

Serve the chocolate cobbler with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the perfect pairing because the chocolate cobbler is rich. It’s ready to serve after it sits for about 15 minutes so the pudding can thicken. This would be a quick dessert to fix up and I would add chocolate chips for it to be extra chocolatey.
