If you love cooking Asian cuisines, you probably have most of the ingredients you need in your kitchen. But if not, you can easily find them in the Asian aisle of your local grocery stores. Serve it with freshly cooked white rice, blanched vegetables, or noodles for a complete meal.
Here’s another recipe for you to try: Sweet and Spicy Pork Belly
Start by cutting the pork belly into roughly 1-inch chunks.
Add the water to the pot and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add pork, ginger onion, and garlic. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, then remove the pork from the water. Place on a plate lined with paper towel. Discard the remaining water and vegetables, then clean and dry the pot.
Place the pot back on your stovetop and add oil. Heat it over high heat. Add the pork back into the pot and cook until browned. Be careful as the oil may pop.
Add brown sugar, then turn the heat to low. Stir continuously until melted and caramelized, coating the pork evenly. Immediately stir in the soy sauce and rice wine, stirring for about 5 to 6 minutes or until it becomes a thick glaze.
Pour the water and stir. Place the lid and cook for 45 minutes at a low simmer, not boiling. Make sure to check and stir every 10 minutes or so. Add water if it gets dry.
After 45 minutes, remove the lid, and check that the pork is coated with a very thick glaze. If it’s too runny, continue stirring uncovered until the liquid has reduced.
Serve it immediately over a rice bow, then top with sliced green onions. Enjoy!
