Your usual cabbage rolls have ground beef, rice, and onion as filling, then baked in tomato sauce. Rahilas Cookhouse‘s version is different than what you are used to. These chicken stuffed cabbage rolls do not contain rice, use chicken as the name suggests, and are cooked without a sauce. But they taste equally amazing! There are three ways to cook these at home. If you want them to be healthier, you can steam them. But if you want them to be crispy and crunchy, deep-fry or toss them in oil.

Start by boiling water in a pot. Once boiling, add the whole cabbage and cover it. Let it cook for about 15 minutes. Once done, remove using tongs and transfer to your cutting board. Let it cool for a little bit, then separate the leaves.
Add minced chicken in a bowl, followed by chopped green onion, spring onion, minced garlic, chopped ginger, green chili, salt, and pepper. Mix all ingredients until well combined.
Cut the hard part on the bottom of the cabbage leaves.
Take a small size amount of the chicken mixture and place it on the lower edge of one cabbage leaf, leaving a small space on the bottom. Form it into a log. Roll the bottom over the chicken mixture, fold the sides toward the center, then continue rolling. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
Steam the cabbage rolls for about 25 to 30 minutes.
Place a pan over heat and add the oil. Once hot, add the onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté then add salt. Once the vegetables turn a little bit brown, add a little bit of soy sauce and half a cup of water. Mix well and let it come to a boil. Once boiling, add the slurry mixture. Mix and add the spring onion. Cook until it thickens.
Transfer the steamed cabbage roll to a plate then serve with the sauce. Enjoy!
