Chevron quilt may look hard, but this Missouri Star tutorial made it look so simple and beginner-friendly. This is one of my favorite quilt patterns when I was just starting out, and I made quite a lot with solid and printed quilts. I personally like this quilt in an ombre effect, as it looks stunning in those fading colors. It also looks cute in a scrappy chevron design and would make a perfect personalized gift for your loved ones.

Materials:

  • (click here for the free pattern)
  • 1 – 10″ print squares
  • 1 – 10″ background squares
  • 1 3/4 yards border fabric
  • 1 yard binding fabric
  • 8 yards of backing fabric (horizontal seams)

Directions:

Step 1

Pull one from each of the 10″ print and background squares, stack them together, and draw a line from corner to corner on both sides, forming an X. Once done, sew all around with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Repeat this with the rest of the squares. Next, cut directly into the lines you drew. Press the half-square triangles and trim. Repeat these steps to make more blocks for the quilt top.

Step 2

Now, lay 12 blocks, then 12 on top to create the chevron stripe. To make the quilt top, lay the chevron stripes in 14 rows. Sew these rows together to finish the quilt top.
