For this quilt, you only need 10″ squares – one pack of colored squares and one pack of background squares. Make them into HSTs, then use four pieces of the matching fabric to make one block. There are so many patterns you can try with this block, just like the baby quilt and the table runner. She will show the different options you can choose in the video below.

Take one 10″ colored square and a 10″ background square. Place them on top of each other and draw a diagonal line from corner to corner in both directions to make an X. Sew 1/4″ away from both sides of the lines.
Cut in half horizontally and vertically, then cut directly on the drawn lines. Make sure they are lined up before you cut. Set the seams, open each one, and press towards the dark side. Now, you have 8 pieces of half-square triangles. They should be 4 1/2″ half-square triangles. If you need to square them up, go ahead.
Take four half-square triangles. Put the first two with the colors facing together, then the other two with the whites facing together. Sew them in rows first, then press them open. Once done, sew the 2 rows together to make the block. Make sure they nest together.
There are different ways to assemble this block. For the baby quilt, assemble four blocks for each row with the arrows in alternating directions. You need 5 rows for this quilt. Sew them together to make the block.
You can also form them into diamonds.
