This version of the scalloped potato recipe from Aussie Griller on Youtube tastes absolutely amazing. It’s packed with all the right flavors and is super cheesy! This is perfect for any holidays or gatherings, and I’m sure it will be a hit. It’s also quite easy to make and only needs simple ingredients. Watch the video below to learn the full recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2.20 lb potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/8 cup of butter
  • 1/3 cup of flour
  • 1 liter of milk
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • cheddar cheese, shredded
  • freshly chopped chives

Directions:

Step 1

Melt 1/8 cup of butter in a saucepan and after it melts, add 1/3 cup of flour. Mix well, then pour 1 liter of milk. Stir it until it thickens. Season with a pinch of nutmeg, 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper and 1/2 tsp salt. Lastly, throw in a bit of shredded cheddar cheese. Stir all together to incorporate the ingredients.

Step 2

After this, pour a thin layer of sauce into the bottom of your casserole dish, then add a layer of thinly sliced potatoes. Next, add a layer of shredded cheese on top of the potatoes, then another layer of sauce followed by another layer of potatoes, then another layer of sauce. Add to the top the leftover potato slices, then cover them well with a layer of shredded cheddar cheese. Sprinkle some chives over the top to pop some color (optional.) After this, cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and place it in the oven and bake for 35 minutes or just until the cheese turns golden brown.
