Cathedral Window Ornaments

Decorate your Christmas tree with these beautiful cathedral window ornaments by Shabby Fabrics. They are very easy to make and customizable too. You can choose different fabrics to match the decorations you already have at home. How fun is that? Materials:

• 10″ square for the main fabric
• 5″ square for the center fabric
• 5″ square for the back fabric
• 4.5″ square for the accent fabric
• 8″ long ribbon
• sizing
• fabric glue
• polyfoam
• button

Instructions:

Step 1:

Fold the main fabric in half, wrong sides together. Press with an iron to make a crease. Next, fold it again in half then press. Open it up and bring the corners to the middle. After that, bring the corners to the middle again and press with an iron.

Step 2:

Open the flaps and place the center fabric. Close the flaps back up and pin them. Sew from the center out in all four directions about a quarter of an inch.

Step 3:

Cut the accent fabric in half diagonally from corner to corner on both sides. Glue them on the edges of the square on all four sides.

Step 4:

Hold one of the edges of the triangle, roll it back, and sew on the curve.  Do the same for every edge.

Step 5:

Fold the ribbon and pin it on one corner. Sew it several times.

Step 6:

Place the backing on top, and right sides together. Sew on the edges with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Make sure to leave an opening. Once done, trim the corners. Flip it right side out, then make a crease on the opening so it will be easier to sew later.

Step 7:

Stuff your ornament with polyfoam and sew the opening. Lastly, sew the button in the middle.
