Ingredients:

  • 1 & 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup dulce de leche (or brown sugar syrup or caramel)
  • 3 granny smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • vanilla ice cream (optional)

Directions:

Step 1

In a bowl, add 1 & 1/2 cups of flour, 1/3 cup of sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, 2 eggs, 1/3 cup of oil, 1/3 cup of milk, and 1 tbsp vanilla. Mix well to combine, then set aside. Next, in a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tbsp butter, then add 1 cup of dulce de leche. Mix well and bring to a boil.

Step 2

Pour the dulce de leche mixture into a round baking pan, then arrange the apple slices in a circular pattern overlapping one another, covering the whole top. After this, pour the batter mixture over, spreading it evenly and nicely. Place in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F and bake for 25 minutes. Serve with some ice cream!
