  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups of cornmeal

  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 stick of butter (plus 1/2 stick for garnish)
  • 2/3 cup of vegetable oil
  • 3 – 3 1/2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 – 1 1/4 cups of buttermilk

How to Make Buttermilk Cornbread

Step 1:

Preheat your oven to 350F for 10 minutes.

Step 2:

In a large mixing bowl, add the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Mix until well combined.

Step 3:

In a microwave-safe bowl, add 1 stick of butter and microwave for 1 minute until melted. Let it cool.

Step 4:

Beat the eggs for 1 minute in a different bowl.

Step 5:

In a large bowl, add the buttermilk, beaten eggs, melted butter, vegetable oil, and honey. Stir for 2 minutes.

Step 6:

Pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture. Mix well until there there are no lumps. If it’s not as thick as you want it to be, add more cornmeal.
