  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp dried mustard powder
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

For the sauce:

  • one medium size white onion
  • six button mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp butter, unsalted
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 & 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • freshly chopped parsley, for garnish

Directions:

Step 1

In a large bowl, add 2 lb of lean ground beef, four cloves of minced garlic, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp ground black pepper, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, 1/2 tsp dried mustard powder, 2 tbsp ketchup, and one egg. Mix this all together until well combined. After this, scoop about a cup or a half of the mixture, place it into your palms and form it into a burger patty. Set this aside on a baking sheet and continue making patties until you finish the mixture.

Step 2

Now, add 1 tbsp oil to a pan over medium-high heat. Put the patties into the heated oil and fry them until they are cooked through on both sides. After cooking, set them aside. Next, make the sauce. Chop the onion and slice the button mushrooms. Melt 2 tbsp of unsalted butter in the same pan and deglaze it. Add the sliced mushrooms and onions and cook them until they are covered with the deglazed sauce, then add 1 tbsp of all-purpose flour. Cook until the flour is no longer visible. Add 1 & 1/2 cups of beef broth and 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce. Bring it to a boil, then add the patties back. Garnish it with freshly chopped parsley.
