Although there are different effective ways to remove rust from tools, the best thing you can do to keep them in good condition and make them last is to store them properly. Storing them in areas where moisture is present is a big no. Place your tools in a clean, dry place like a toolbox or cabinet. Make sure to clean and dry them after every use.

Soak the rusty tool in white vinegar for several hours or overnight.
Once soaked, scrub the tool with a brush or steel wool to remove the rust.
Rinse it with water and dry it thoroughly to prevent new rust from forming.
Place the rusty tool in a container. Sprinkle citric acid powder onto the rusted areas of the tool, then pour warm water over the citric acid to cover the rust. Let the tool soak for about 2 hours. The citric acid will help loosen the rust, making it easier to scrub off with a brush or steel.
Once the rust is gone, rinse the tool with clean water and dry it well with a cloth to prevent more rust from forming.
Make a thick paste by mixing baking soda and a little bit of water.
Spread the paste on the rusty areas of the tool and let it sit for about an hour.
Scrub the tool with a brush or steel until the rust comes off.
Rinse the tool with water and dry it well after cleaning.
Simply soak the rusty tools in a rust remover for about 1 to 2 hours. The rust will dissolve without scrubbing.
