I am a big fan of chicken shawarma, but every time I order it out, I end up disappointed. The flavors are always underwhelming, so I decided to make my own at home. After trying a few recipes, I found that the version from Banglar Rannaghor stood out the most. It’s probably the best homemade chicken shawarma I have ever tried.

Assembly:
In a mixing bowl, add coriander, cumin, red chili, turmeric, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
Add 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix well.
Add the chicken thigh pieces and mix until well coated with the marinade. Cover with cling wrap and marinate for 30 minutes or more.
While waiting, make the garlic sauce. In a bowl, mix 3/4 cup of Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, minced garlic, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix to combine. Set aside for later.
Place a pan over heat and drizzle cooking oil. Once hot, add the marinated chicken and cook until cooked through. Remove from heat, then cut into slices.
Heat the pita wrap in a skillet.
Take one heated pita wrap, then spread a generous amount of garlic sauce. Add sliced chicken, onion, cucumber, and tomato. Drizzle more garlic sauce and sriracha. Fold the sides of the pita, then roll from top to bottom. Serve and enjoy!
