Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (140 g) of self-rising flour
  • 6.5 ounces and 1/2 tbsp (190 g) plain yogurt

For the donut glaze (optional)

  • 2 cups (250 g) powdered sugar
  • 2/3 stick (75 g) butter
  • 3 – 4 tbsp milk (depending on how thin you like the glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • cocoa powder or melted chocolate

Directions:

Step 1

In a bowl, add 1 cup of self-rising flour and 6.5 oz and 1/2 tbsp of plain yogurt. Mix them well. Next, transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a round tip. (If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a ziplock bag or even a spoon to dollop the mixture into the pan.) Preheat oil to 320 – 330 degrees F in a pan, then grab the filled piping bag and start cutting the dough into the hot oil using a scissor. (The dough will initially drop to the bottom of the pan due to the absence of yeast, but don’t worry as it will float back as soon as the baking powder starts to activate.) Grab a spatula and start moving them around so they will be cooked evenly. Make sure the donuts are bubbling and sizzling around the edges. Cooked them until golden brown.

Step 2

After the donuts are cooked, transfer them to a plate with a paper towel. Divide the donuts into three batches. For the first batch, put it in a bowl and mix it with sugar. For the second batch, in a bowl, mix 2/3 stick of melted butter, 3 – 4 tbsp milk, and  2 cups of powdered sugar. Mix it well, then toss in the donuts. Coat each donut with the glaze entirely. For the last batch of donuts, in a bowl, mix the glaze leftover with some cocoa powder or melted chocolate. Toss in the donuts and give it a thorough mix.
