Materials:

  • layer cake
  • rotary cutter
  • cutting mat
  • rulers
  • iron, for pressing

Directions:

Step 1

With each layer cake 10″ squares, cut two 3 1/4″ x 8 3/4″ rectangles and three 3 1/4″ squares. Once everything is cut, rotate the square prints around to mix everything up while keeping the rectangles in the same print. After this, sew everything all back together again. First, sew all the squares to form a row followed by all of the side rectangles.

Step 2

Once everything is sewn, you’ll have an 8 3/4″ square quilt block. Repeat these steps until you have a total of 42 quilt blocks. After this, lay the blocks side by side, rotating every other block 90 degrees, in a 6 x 7 block layout. Sew the blocks together to form rows, then sew those rows together to complete the quilt top.
