These sweet almond squares are soft and delicate that is made with just 5 ingredients. Chef Shun Li on Southern Living shows how to make these flaky, buttery squares. The almond bars are sugary pastries that would go well with coffee or milk. I drink black coffee, so I think this would be perfect to go with coffee so it balances out how stout my coffee is in the morning. I’m a big sweets person so anything that can go with my morning coffee that will give me an extra energy boost, is the best. This is an easy recipe to follow along with because it only requires a few ingredients. I love the taste of the nuttiness from almonds, and it’s a nice protein.

  • 1 lb. almond paste
  • 12 oz. sugar
  • 12 oz. butter
  • 3 oz. all-purpose flour
  • 5 eggs
  • sliced almonds, optional
  • confectioners sugar, optional (to sprinkle on top)

First, in a stand mixer or in a hand mixer, cream the butter and sugar. Add almond paste, then add eggs one by one, mixing it in completely. Add the flour last to the mixture.
