About DIY JOY

We are a group of creative makers who enjoy learning how to make just about anything new, plus we love sharing our ideas with the world. DIY JOY was created to bring new recipes, crafts, DIY tutorials and hacks to all of you who understand that there are not many more rewarding things than making things yourself. If you love sewing, decorating, painting, woodworking, cooking everything imaginable, quilting, handmade gift making or any of the above, we hope you love our projects as much as we do. Our team goes to great lengths to find the best projects and recipes out there, then shares them with awesome images and step-by-step tutorials so that even beginning DIY enthusiasts can follow along.

Meet Our Team

Stephanie

Meet Stephanie, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of DIY JOY, who loves learning something new more than anything. Stephanie created DIY JOY to share her passion for art, cooking and crafting with others who find beauty in the same things. From the heart of Austin, Texas, where creativity flows as freely as the summer heat, she’s a lifelong DIY enthusiast whose crafting journey began with a telling door sign that read “Creativity isn’t pretty” (courtesy of her understanding mom) and a handmade Paddington Bear costume that taught her anything was possible. Now an art and design graduate from the University of Texas, this oil painting aficionado turned DIY content creator believes the only thing better than making something is sharing the joy of creation with others. When she’s not crafting up a storm or exploring local museums, she’s probably planning her next gingerbread house masterpiece (she’s made over 500 of them!), or diving into her favorite DIY blogs for fresh inspiration. As a mother of three somewhat-grown kids, she’s rediscovering time for her passions, from hiking to museum-hopping, all while spreading her infectious belief that anyone can make anything they set their mind to. True to her Texan roots, she brings a perfect blend of inventiveness, determination, patience, and giving spirit to everything she creates, though her heart beats fastest during the Christmas season when she can combine all her favorite things: crafting, cooking, and family time. No matter the project – whether it’s whipping up Tex-Mex, creating the perfect gift bow, or designing a new DIY tutorial – she approaches it with the same creative spirit that once had her lying on newspaper while her mom crafted that infamous bear costume. She has leveraged her limitless creativity to create everything from homemade Halloween costumes for her own kids to the biggest paper mache glow in the dark globe that may ever have existed. She loves sharing her tips and tricks, and even the failures so that all who read our blog can learn from the projects and advice we offer. She’s an uncertified gourmet chef who loves throwing dinner parties, inventing recipes and figuring out new ways to clean up the many DIY messes she makes.

Elle Anne

Meet your friendly neighborhood DIY enthusiast and kitchen experimenter straight from the Christmas-loving streets of Dasmariñas City, Philippines, where holiday lights twinkle from September to January (yes, really)! This former Communication Arts student turned her college prop-making tricks into a passion for transforming everyday items into something magical, and when the pandemic hit, she finally joined her family’s league of kitchen wizards (better late than never!). When she’s not whipping up ultra-creamy carbonara or sharing her latest life hacks online, you’ll find her in a cozy café corner, nose buried in a book and fork deep in a burnt Basque cheesecake – because if there’s dairy involved, she’s there.

Lily

Picture a kid glued to the TV watching Art Attack and Martha Stewart, surrounded by a creative chaos of art supplies, who grew into a curious soul who believes you don’t need to be an expert to have fun trying new things! Following an unexpected plot twist where she dove into technical education (because who says you can’t love both art AND complex problem-solving?), this former shy journaler now channels her creative spirit – inherited from her art-loving Auntie – into writing and creative pursuits, while feeding her wanderlust through travel adventures. When she’s not exploring new cultures or whipping up her favorite tangy tamarind soup, you’ll find her exactly where little her would expect: completely absorbed in cooking shows and interior design programs, proving that some of the best things never change!
