This 7-UP Mayo jello salad was recreated by emmymadeinjapan tutorial on YouTube and it’s a vintage, retro dessert. This retro dessert includes 7-UP soda, crushed pineapples, lime jello, and maraschino cherries. I think mayo in a dessert sounds awful, but I wouldn’t know unless I tried it myself. However, I think the other ingredients might balance out to a sweet dessert. I remember seeing this 7-UP jello salad on The Ellen Show, so it was inspired by it as a joke. Plus, it would be a cool dessert to make for the holidays since it’s unusual and different. I didn’t know this salad was a thing, but I love the vibrant green color. Although it looks a little weird, all of the ingredients remind me of a key lime pie merging with a cheesecake.
First, in a medium saucepan, heat up the 7UP along with the mini marshmallows. Bring it up to a boil on medium heat, and keep stirring until everything is completely dissolved. Add one packet of lime jello, and mix until well incorporated. Add the chopped cream cheese, and stir until a smooth consistency. Next, once the jello salad mixture is finished, pour it into your favorite mold or bowl, and place in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours.
Overall, I think it’s a unique dessert that sounds weird. However, it looks super cool, and festive for the holidays. I’m sure there are families out there with this as a tradition because it is an old recipe that is tweaked to its own flair.
