When it comes to dreaming about the best Thanksgiving foods my mother and grandma used to make, homemade gravy certainly comes to mind. However, I was buying my turkey gravy at the store until last year, because I had no idea how to make gravy like they did. This simple gravy recipe can be whipped up in minutes, and it is just as rich and delicious as the versions I recall from my childhood. You can use drippings and stock from a turkey you baked, or if you buy a premade turkey and just need gravy, you can use a can of chicken stock or a box of turkey stock
Yes, amazing gravy is a must when it comes to Thanksgiving because it is a required topping for stuffing, mashed potatoes, and the star bird on your dinner table. This Thanksgiving gravy recipe by Rachael Ray on YouTube uses only 5 ingredients to make. I usually make the gravy from the turkey drippings or giblets, but this is a great way to make the gravy ahead or you can freeze this too. Gravy is so easy to make – you can even make this a vegetarian gravy by using vegetable stock instead. This gravy recipe is a no-fail method that turns out amazingly well every time. If you do it my way and make it ahead, it will be one less thing to prepare on Thanksgiving day. I love having less to do on Thanksgiving morning and will take all the shortcuts I can get so I have more time to spend with family
First, in a pan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in lots of pepper then add flour. Cook for about 2 minutes then whisk in stock and Worcestershire sauce.
Next, raise the heat a little to thicken the gravy. Then, turn off the heat and cover. Also, to serve, bring the gravy to a low bubble, and whisk in pan drippings from your turkey.

Overall, I love gravy because it gives off the perfect savory taste on top of the mashed potatoes. Plus it makes everything moister in my opinion if the turkey or stuffing is dry. Also, she gives a tip on mixing the gravy with an egg yolk in a separate bowl, then pouring it back into the pot makes it extra rich, moist, and glossy.
