There are many reasons to choose to grow vegetables hydroponically.  There is way less weeding when you go hydro, there is less watering, You don’t have to worry about droughts, and the plants will grow much faster, which is amazing to see. In this wonderful video interview tutorial, I found by VPM on YouYube, Nomi Bear tells us all about her terrific hydroponic garden. Nomi says her standing water garden has been very easy to maintain and she hasn’t had a problem with any rests invading the water. The uses a commercial fertilizer for tomatoes, some Epsom salt (for magnesium content), and some calcium nitrate in her reservoir growing system.

Materials For Hydroponic Home Farming:

  • Busing tubs from a restaurant supply (they are food-grade, which is great)
  • Small plastic seedling baskets (from your local garden center)
  • Epsom salt
  • Calcium nitrate
  • Organic tomato fertilizer
  • Water (filtered)

Then, you just need to make sure your plant has enough headroom at the top to allow the plant to get enough oxygen.
