This macaroni casserole looks so delicious, I am tempted to run into the kitchen and start making one right this minute. My Mom used to make a version of this, but her gravy was more like a Swedish meatball gravy. This fabulous recipe tutorial by The Cook N Share on Youtube does look amazing and is also really simple and only uses the most basic ingredients you usually have in your pantry.
First, you brown your ground beef, then add the onions and slightly sautee with garlic, mushrooms, stewed tomatoes, and tomato paste in a Dutch oven or large skillet with a lid. Let this mixture cook on low heat for about 20 to 30 minutes, then add cooked elbow macaroni and blend well.
When the mixture is blended you transfer it to a casserole dish and cover with a cup of grated cheese. You can use whatever cheese you like, or even a blend of cheeses would be good. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
This is so macaroni casserole is so delicious! I left the tomato sauce out of mine and added a little flour, then beef broth to the ground beef and it made the dish more like a Swedish meatball type of taste.
