Winter season is the time when most people go out to enjoy the snow and do a lot of fun activities, but some also prefer to stay indoors, especially during heavy snowfall. When indoors, you are safe on your couch covered in your favorite blanket while slipping on a hot drink.

But, what about your car outside your house? They would have a lot of snow buildup and before you know it they’d be covered entirely, and worst, the door would be frozen and you wouldn’t even be able to open it. If that’s the case, then these tips and hacks by DIY Andrew Flockhart on YouTube are exactly what you need!
How to Protect Your Car in the Winter:
Tip #1:
Get a decent brush for cleaning your car and make sure to choose one with a soft bristle to prevent scratching the paint. If you’re extremely worried about your car paint, then you can consider using a leaf blower to try and remove all of the snow buildup around your car exterior.
Tip #2:
If you don’t have any brush available or you only have one with hard bristles, then you can brush it with a microfiber cloth and clip it securely in place. Use it to scrape off the accumulated snow around the exterior of your car without damaging or scratching the paint.
Tip #3:
Get a silicone spray and a microfiber cloth, then spray an ample amount on the cloth, and wipe it all over both sides of your doors from being frozen. Apply some on your door handle and the hood latch as well.
Tip #4:
Your windshield wipers are also prone to damage and freezing when it accumulates a lot of snow. So the best thing to do is to also wipe it well with a microfiber cloth generously sprayed with silicone spray. This way even if it snows hard, they will just slide right off when you wipe them clean.
Tip #5:
If you’re traveling during a heavy snowfall and you somehow get stuck somewhere without fuel or a gas station nearby, then it’s best to be prepared by bringing a gallon of fuel anywhere with you. You should also look for a tube attachment so you can easily refill your car’s tank.
