#1: Baking Soda Vinegar
Baking soda and vinegar is a great combination to clean drains naturally and effectively, plus it helps neutralize bad odor. Simply pour ¼ cup of baking soda directly into the drain, then quickly pour in ½ cup of vinegar right after, and let them sit for a couple of minutes. Next, pour boiling water into the drain to wash it off, and do this as frequently as needed.
#2: Diatomaceous Earth
This material is attracted to drains by the scents that linger in them and it is also very effective in killing insects. Simply pour ¼ cup of diatomaceous into the drain followed by ½ cup of vinegar right after, and let it work for a couple of minutes.
#3: Hot Water
The simplest and quickest method you can try is by pouring hot water into the drain. This is beneficial in breaking down hardened dirt in the drain and rinsing them out. Do this at least once a month, but in hot and dry climates you may need to do this weekly.
#4: Drano Max Gel
This method works for the toughest stains on your drain and it also works great on cockroaches. Simply pour a thin layer into the drain and it will keep water from evaporating for a few weeks to possibly months, do this every six weeks to two months.
#5: Trap Primer
It is also best if you install a trap primer as it detects when trapped water has evaporated and then releases small amounts of water into the drain to refill the trap. Traps filled with water will prevent cockroach invasion and this method will also help stop bad odors from escaping into restrooms and other areas.
