Today, I will be sharing with you how to make dulce de leche in 15 minutes. This recipe by Baking Cherry is very easy to follow and only requires 4 simple ingredients. I know you might be wondering, is dulce de leche the same as caramel? They look the same, as they both have the same brown color, but they are actually different.

Caramel is made from water and sugar, while dulce de leche is made from milk and sugar. That is why the taste and texture is different. It is sweet and creamy with a glossy and silky smooth texture. You can use it as a sweetener for your coffee or hot chocolate, spread for your toast, syrup for pancakes, waffles, and french toast, and toppings for your ice cream, cake, cookies, and donuts. Add 1/4 cup of granulated sugar in a large nonstick saucepan. Stir it over low heat until completely melted.
Once melted, add 3 tablespoons of butter and mix until well combined.
Gradually add 1/3 cup of whole milk, stirring after each addition.
Add 14 oz of sweetened condensed milk. Make sure not to skip or substitute this ingredient. Continuously stir using a silicone spatula and bring it to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, stir for about 3 to 4 minutes or until thickened.
Transfer to a bowl and let it cool at room temperature.
