This simple and flavorful dish is so good and addicting, and this is also one of my favorite side dishes of all time! Ever since I tried and tasted these refried beans, I have never wanted beans served any other way.

I make this often even for special occasions, and it’s always a winner for everyone! I’m sure that you will love beans even more once you’ve tried this yummy recipe by The Country Cook on YouTube.
Step 1
Rinse the dried pinto beans, then place them in the bottom of the crockpot, and add in the onion, jalapeño, bouillon cubes, garlic cloves, and ground cumin. Pour in the water, then give them a good stir to combine, and cover the crockpot with the lid.
Step 2
Allow them to cook on a high setting for about 6 to 8 hours or a low setting for about 8 to 10 hours until the beans are tender. Once done cooking, remove the large chunks of onion, garlic, and jalapeño, then discard them, and drain off the beans reserving the liquid for later.
Step 3
Put the drained beans back into the crockpot, then add in the unsalted butter, and mash them until desired consistency, use the reserved liquid to thin them out if needed. Serve immediately and enjoy!
