Modern Bear Paw Star Quilt

Materials
Fabric A:
- 24 pieces of 10″ x 10″ printed squares
Fabric B:
- 24 pieces of 10″ x 10″ background squares
- 24 pieces of 4.5″ x 4.5″ background squares

Instructions
Step 1:
Take your fabric B 10″ squares and place it right side down. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Next, from one of the other corners draw a diagonal line until the center of the drawn diagonal just like in the photo below.
Step 2:
Pair the marked fabric B with fabric A. Line up the edges, right sides together, and with the fabric B on top. Sew 1/4″ away from both sides of your lines. Once done, cut directly to the drawn lines.
Step 3:
Take two smaller half-square triangles, and piece them together to make a square, then cut diagonally across them to make four small half-square triangles.
Step 4:
Open all of the pieces, now you should have one half-square triangle and four small half-square triangles. Repeat the process with the remaining 10″ squares. Press them open, then square the large piece into an 8.5″ square and the small ones into 4.5″ squares.
Step 5:
Lay out your modern bear paw block just like in the photo below. Use the 4.5″ background squares for the top right corner.
Step 6:
Sew the 2 half square triangles on the bottom right first with a 1/4″ seam allowance, then press it open. Next, sew the three top squares with a 1/4″ seam allowance and press open. After that, sew the big square and 2 blocks together, then the last top row. Repeat with the remaining half-square triangles.
Step 7:
Arrange four of the blocks together into a four-patch with the points pointing outside forming a diamond in the center. Sew with 1/4″ sea, allowance, and press. Create five more stars for the quilt.
