DIY Cactus Ring Holder Tutorial

Materials:

• white polymer clay
• 2 toothpicks
• glossy mod podge
• paintbrushes
• paint

Directions:

Step 1

Start by rolling your polymer clay into a 1 1/4″ ball, then flatten it out into a flat circle and stretch it until 3″ in diameter. After this, pinch up the outer edges of the dish until it’s 1/4″ high, then set it aside. Next, take some clay and roll it out. Make the top part nice and round, then continue to roll it while making the top rounded size thinner than the bottom (about 3″ long), then press the bottom flat. After this, take a toothpick and place it into your clay through the flat bottom side, leaving a little bit of toothpick sticking.

Step 2

Now, make the arms of your cactus. Take some clay and mold it like how you mold the trunk, only shorter (about 1 1/2″ long), then stick a toothpick through the flat bottom, leaving a little bit sticking out. Once done, press the arm into the trunk, curling the arm upwards, then blend the clay together. After this, place the cactus into the center of the dish, blending it also to make your project one solid piece. Now, roll a small pinch of clay into a small skinny snake, then coil it around a little bit to make a little flower. Place it on top of the cactus. Bake it in the oven at 275 degrees F for 45 to 60 minutes. After baking, paint your cactus and you’re done!
