Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Once hot, saute onion and garlic for 2 minutes until golden brown.
Add all the ingredients left and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and cook it uncovered for 25 minutes. Make sure to stir it occasionally.
Preheat the oven to 300F.
Remove the excess fat from the ribs. From the back of the ribs, remove the silver skin. You can lift it with a sharp knife and grab it with a paper towel.
Slice the ribs into individual pieces. Rub the lemon juice all over the ribs, then coat with dry rub. Place the meat side down in a large baking pan. Tightly cover it with the foil with the shiny side out.
Place it inside the oven for about 2 1/2 hours. Once done, remove it and pour the liquid off.
Brush ribs on all sides with the bbq sauce.
Finish the ribs on the grill. Remove them from the pan and place them on the grill. Baste and turn the ribs a few times for about 10 minutes.
Finish the ribs in the oven. Set your oven to broil and return the ribs to the same middle oven rack, uncovered. Baste and broil for about 5 minutes per side. Make sure to watch them so they don’t burn. If the soil starts to burn, transfer them to a new clean sheet of foil for broiling.
