Have you been looking at these raised planters on Pinterest but feel overwhelmed about where to start? Good thing I have found this easy DIY so you can start right away with ease. In this tutorial, you will learn how to build a cheap cinder block raised garden without cement. Yes, it is possible. ToolBox Divas proved it with this practical and amazing method. Read on and learn the full instructions.
Firstly, wear your gloves. Clean up the area using a shovel and remove some of the plants around the space of your garden. Once done, make the base of the raised garden. One by one, place the cinder blocks on the perimeter. Put construction adhesive on the sides to stick them together. It is better to choose a size that doesn’t require cutting for a smooth finish. Make sure that the cinder blocks are leveled using a level ruler.

Using the construction adhesive, glue the seams of the cinder block together. Use a cloth to smoothen it out. Once done, create the second layer. Put some more adhesive on top of the first layer then place the cinder block on top. Don’t forget to add adhesive on the sides as you work on the second layer. Some construction adhesive allows repositioning for 20 minutes so you can still fix it if it’s not leveled.
Once the 2 layers are done, cut the wood planks or picket fences based on the length and width of your garden. Sand it for a smooth finish. Next glue using construction adhesive. Put some extra cinder blocks or heavy objects on top to secure. Let it cure for 24 hours.
It’s time to paint your raised garden. Using a sponge or cloth, stain the wood to your preferred color. Next, paint the base with white paint. Let it dry. Once dried, put the soil inside and you are done.
